All videos that need to be closed captioned and/or transcribed should be submitted ASAP in order to meet the submission deadline. Please do not wait until the last few days, as these are transcribed by humans and the resources may not be available at that time.

FAQs
What should be closed captioned? Who does this apply to?
- If you are responsible for videos on the SCC website that you or the college created* that do not have closed captioning or were “auto captioned” and you are planning to continue to use/host/link them on the web, these videos should be closed captioned.
- If you normally hold in-person sessions with students in which you show videos that you or the college created* that do not have closed captioning or were “auto captioned” and you are planning to continue to use them, these videos should be closed captioned.
- If you or the college created video course content that you reuse from course to course* that do not have closed captioning or were “auto captioned” and you are planning to continue to use them, these videos should be closed captioned.
- If you are using OER content that you reuse from course to course that do not have closed captioning or were “auto captioned” and you are planning to continue to use them, these videos should be closed captioned. This case requires further discussion with SCC’s Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), please reach out to [email protected] for more information on captioning OER that you did not create.
*Commercial videos that you purchase do not apply.
What does not apply for captioning?
- Videos that you or the college did not create do not apply, with the exception of OER.
- Recordings of Live Online sessions that have student personal information do not apply.
- Videos that you do not plan to reuse do not apply.
How do I get an account?

How should I label / name my videos? (naming convention)
A standard naming convention should be utilized for all video submissions. Please make sure to follow these guidelines:
